OCTOPUS - IP67/IP54 Ethernet Switch
The OCTOPUS family of industrial
ethernet switches provides a
full-functioned managed switch and a budget priced unmanaged switch, both in a robust IP67
enclosure (OS20 unmanaged is rated IP54).
Together with M12 connectors, this provides a solution for mounting network switchgear in the field adjacent to exposed devices such as IP Cameras, smart sensors, drives and robot controllers.
Form
- Available in 5 & 10 port (unmanaged), or 8, 9, 16 & 24 port (managed) switches.
- 9 port model OS20 managed form has 'BASIC' firmware for entry level applications and retains IP67 rating.
- Totally encapsulated robust design
- Support for M12 auto configuration adapter (ACA)
- 4-pin M12 connector ('D' keying) for the connection of network hosts.
- Redundant power supply for high availability. 5 pin M12 ('A' keying) is used for the power connector and relay contact.
- 4-pin M12 connector ('A' keying) for serial connection.
- Fibre uplinks via 100BASE-FX microFX connectors
- LED display for device and network status.
- External signalling of alarms via signal contact.
Features
The OCTOPUS managed range include exactly the same functionality as other managed hirschmann switches:
- Redundancy mechanisms such as Rapid Spanning Tree, HiPER-Ring and the new standardised ring MRP
- Configuration via Web GUI
- Filtering customisable on a per-port basis
- Flow control with prioritisation and traffic shaping
- Access check according to IEEE 802.1X
- Compatible with PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP etc.
Due to their compact design, the OCTOPUS family can be mounted either on the wall or directly on the machine. Since the switches can be cascaded, networks with a distributed structure and short transmission distances to the terminating equipment can be implemented. The 16 and 24 port versions are also available with 2 fibre uplink ports.
With the OCTOPUS family, the first manageable switches at the field level, Hirschmann offers the optimum solution. The OCTOPUS family has the necessary internal resources for extended management by SNMP, as well as prioritisation and traffic shaping. This means that Industrial Ethernet with extended scope of functions can now also be used in previously inaccessible places without large-scale cabling.
For the first time IP67 switches can be integrated in redundant ethernet rings to robustly link to the field level.
