RS32 Gigabit Switch with PoE
17-Dec-2010
To meet demand for Power over Ethernet appliances, the model RS32 PoE Gigabit Managed Switch is now available. The RS32 Compact OpenRail range features models with 8, 16 or 24 Fast Ethernet ports, and 2 Gigabit uplinks in a choice of media (copper, fibre or SFP). 4 PoE ports are provided on all models. As a consequence of PoE, the power requirement is for 48Vdc, with redundancy terminals available. Beware of 24V PoE systems which are not in accordance with the 802.3 standards*.
Note: PoE ports are Fast Ethernet (100Mbps), not Gigabit.
Layer 2 managed switching functionality is provided, with the full range of standard and proprietary protocols; Redundancy, VLAN, QoS and Flow Control for example. Both Enhanced and Professional software versions are available.
Applications
The RS32 range suits general managed switch applications requiring Gigabit Uplinks where Fast Ethernet PoE ports for IP Cameras, Wireless Access Points (like the Hirschmann BAT WLAN) or even IP Phones are required. Where a managed switch is not required, the Power over Ethernet enabled SPIDER II 8TX PoE is recommended.
(minimum 44 V DC and 350 mA) to each device. The updated IEEE 802.3at-2009 PoE standard also known as PoE+ or PoE plus, provides up to 25.5 W of power.
