The BAT54 range was released some years ago with two models, the dual WLAN module BAT54-Rail and the IP67 BAT54-F. Their little brother has now been released, the BAT54-Single.
Boasting the same robust credentials of its predecessors, the BAT54-Single provides a highly cost-effective entry to industrial WLAN without compromising on reliability. Whereas the BAT54-Rail has 2 independent radio modules and LAN interfaces, this Single model has just one, reducing cost while maintaining many of the key features - dual band, antenna diversity, multiple power supply redundancy including PoE.
Suitable for numerous topologies, it can perform as an access point (WiFi hotspot), wireless bridge (point to point), wireless mesh or WLAN client, including as a combination of these simultaneously. Create a local Access Point for network access with an omni antenna, while using a directional antenna on the second radio channel to bridge to another network segment. The options are vast.
BAT54-Single provides the following functions:
- Dual WLAN - 2.4 / 5GHz
- IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/h/i standards compliance
- 4 way power supply redundancy
- IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE)
- IP Routing - segregate the LAN IP from that connected to the Wireless subnet, allowing control of traffic.
- Customisable Security Firewall - allow or drop data based on MAC, IP, or even protocol - determine who gets internet access only for example.
- Multiple SSID Access Point - allows numerous different categories of client for ultimate flexibility. Create a 'guest' access for customers to have web access only, but 'engineer' access to the control infrastructure for example.
The BAT54-Rail Single device comes in a robust aluminium housing and is designed to operate within a temperature range of -30°C to +50°C. A higher temperature limit is offered by the BAT54-F. The units fulfil all requirements with regard to shock-resistance, vibration-resistance and electromagnetic compatibility, making them highly suitable for industrial and other challenging locations, as well as vehicle installation.
