Safety Control Relays
IDEM provide two ranges of safety control relays, the standard 'SCR' and the networkable 'MODUS' range. Both are modular and scalable.
The IDEM SCR (Safety Control Relay) family starts with two basic modules:
- SCR-2 with 2 NC contacts
- SCR-3 with 3NC and 1NO contacts.
These, like other modules in the range, are designed in accordance with EN 60204-1, and are suitable for applications deemed to require a Category 4 safety design (according to EN 954-1).
They feature:
- Single or Dual Channel Inputs
- Force-Guided Safety Output Contacts
- Redundancy and Cycle Monitoring
- Short Circuit and Earth-Fault Monitoring
- DIN Rail Mounting
- Compact (22.5mm wide) Housing
They are suitable for all safety switches, such as Tongue Switches, Rope Pull Switches, Safety Limits, E-Stops.
Other modules are available, including Expansion Relays and Time Delays.
The MODUS range is a scalable 'Plug and Expand' safety relay system with a network for both internal communications and remote monitoring. Comprising a Basic Module coupled with input and output modules, the MODUS range can accommodate complex groupings of the safety function where otherwise a programmable safety controller might be considered.
IDEM MODUS Basic Module - Type MM-1
The IDEM MM-1 Basic Module is the controller for an expandable safety relay system featuring MODUS 'Plug and Expand' network for both internal communications and remote monitoring.
The MM-1 is not only a controller, but may operate as a stand-alone controller like the model SCR-2 and SCR-3 Safety Monitoring Relays. The dual-width MM-1 module features:
- 2 N/C Safety Inputs (Dual N/C N/O)
- 3 Safety Relay Outputs
- 6 Solid-State monitoring outputs
- Short circuit and earth fault monitoring
- Diagnostic LEDs
- Manual or Automatic Activation
- RS 485 Electrical Interface for MODUS comms to PC or PLC.
- Safety Category 4 Rated
System Build
Starting with the MM-1, input modules are connected to the left and output modules to the right using a bus connector that sits flush with the DIN rail. The MODUS interface to a remote station is made at the last output module.
IDEM MODUS Input Module - TypeIPM3
Combined with the MM-1 Basic Module, IDEM 'Modus' compatible safety relay modules provide a self-contained scalable safety controller, with the benefit of remote monitoring by any Modbus master eg PLC, PC.
The OPM4D is an output module with the following features:
- 3 Dual Channel Safety Inputs
- 3 Monitoring Outputs
- Diagnostic LEDs
- Safety Category 4 Rated
IDEM MODUS Group Input Module - TypeIPM2G
Combined with the MM-1 Basic Module, IDEM 'Modus' compatible safety relay modules provide a self-contained scalable safety controller, with the benefit of remote monitoring by PLC, PC through the RS 485 Modus network.
The IPM2G is an input module with the following features:
- 2 Dual Channel Safety Inputs
- 2 Solid-State Monitoring Outputs
- Outputs for establishing Safety Groups
- Diagnostic LEDs
- Safety Category 4 Rated
- Short Circuit and Earth Fault Monitoring
A 3 channel safety relay output module for use with interlock switches and rope pull switches. Features IDEM Modus 'Plug and Expand' for remote monitoring, and automatic configuration.
Combined with the MM-1 Basic Module, IDEM 'Modus' compatible safety relay modules provide a self-contained scalable safety controller, with the benefit of remote monitoring by any Modus master eg PLC, PC.
The OPM4D is an output module with the following features:
- 3 N/C and 1N/O Safety Relay Outputs
- Diagnostic LEDs
- Safety Category 4 Rated
IDEM MODUS Group Output Module - Type OPM4D
A channel delayed output safety relay module for use with interlock switches and rope pull switches. Features Modus 'Plug and Expand' for remote monitoring, and automatic configuration.
The OPM4D is an output module with the following features:
- 4 Delayed Safety Relay Outputs
- Time delay variable 1-30 seconds
- Diagnostic LEDs
- 1 solid-state monitoring output
- Safety Category 4 Rated
When a reliable, scalable and networked safety control system is needed, the IDEM MODUS System is an economical choice. Kindly note the MODUS is not a MODBUS network, but a proprietary network based on the RS-485 electrical standard.
