SPIDER and SPIDER II
The SPIDER family of 10/100 Mbps industrial ethernet switches provide an entry level industrial grade switch at an excellent price per port. By far our most popular range, the unmanaged SPIDER range features DIN Rail mounting, 24Vdc supply and includes auto-crossing, auto-negotiation, and auto-polarity. The new SPIDER II range introduces Gigabit ports in copper and fibre.
Most commonly used to provide programming ports in a field panel, the Hirschmann SPIDER is ideal for electrical contractors who want a plug and play switch with the convenience of rail mounting, 24Vdc supply and without the need for configuration.
Adopting the 'Store and Forward' approach, SPIDER switches forward only valid packets. All invalid frames and fragments discarded, reducing unnecessary network traffic. SPIDERs have full operational capability in harsh environments, being able to withstand temperatures of 0 to +60 degrees Celsius in the standard models, and -40 to +70 degrees Celsius in the EEC* models. The range is available with 2, 3, 5, 7, 8 and 10 ports, taking into account the full range of copper/fibre port combinations.
The SPIDER range is now available in the following models:
- SPIDER - Media Converter - Copper to Fibre Converters such as the 2 port 1TX/1FX and the 5 port 4TX/1FX
- SPIDER - All Copper Switch - 3, 5 and 8 port 10/100 Ethernet Switches
- SPIDER II 8TX - 8 Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch
- SPIDER II Giga 5 - 5 Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch
- SPIDER II Giga 5/2S - 7 Port Gigabit Switch featuring 2 SFP Ports
For higher port density, or advanced features such as redundant power supply and fault contacts still in the unmanaged range, the models RS2, RS20 and RS30 are available.
For simple and effective networking, quick and easy Ethernet access to configurable devices, or low cost port expansion of existing systems, it is hard to go past the Hirschmann SPIDER.
